WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A
MINDFUL PARENT?
Every parent lives in a busy and highly distracting world. Smart phones, flat screens, and email tones, information and requests come from every angle. Your kids’ attention is equally splintered, from tablets to text messages. The modern world challenges our family’s ability to be present, to be mindful.
A mindful parent is present in the moment with their family. A mindful parent relates to their kids and understands their expressions, both verbal and non-verbal. A mindful parent navigates everyday conflicts and stress in a way that lets them enjoy the journey that is parenthood. Based on dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, we help parents, no matter how frustrated, exhausted or simply confounded, become more emotionally adaptive by applying evidence-based training to everyday parenting scenarios.
You are, after all, your child’s first teacher. What you do and how you do it has a cascading effect on your children. As you become more mindful – patient, centered, empathetic – they will too.
Appropriate for parents of any age children

MINDFUL PREGNANCY
WHY A MINDFUL PREGNANCY?
Pregnancy is the process of life growing and developing inside your body. It’s a magical and joyous experience, but it can also be a source of stress. And if you are stressed, your baby is stressed, too. A mindful pregnancy enables women to reduce stress and the hormones related to stress. Hormones that have been associated with premature births, lower birth weights, and increased emotional reactivity in babies.
At the same time, a mindful practice helps moms-to-be more consciously connect to their pregnancy, enhance their ability to bond, and feel compassion for those around them and the little one that will soon be in their arms. A mindful, calm and connected mother helps create a mindful, calm and connected baby.

MINDFULNESS AT WORK
WHY MINDFULNESS AT WORK?
Forty, fifty, sixty-plus hours a week and counting — the amount of time we spend at work is staggering. It accounts for most of the time in our life. It is the place where we are most engaged, where what we do impacts our careers and our quality of life. Yet, so many of us can’t remember our commute. We skim emails and contracts. We can’t remember what people say unless it’s in a memo. And when we come home, we’re spread so thin that paying attention to our family is nearly impossible.
This is the modern paradox: we are both highly engaged and highly distracted. It’s what makes a mindful practice so valuable to career professionals. Mindfulness at work helps people reduce stress at the office, become more productive and effective during your workday. The focus and patience you develop helps clear your mind and allow you to tap into deeper stores of creativity. You become more resilient, and can sustain the emotional volatility of an office. Mindfulness at work makes you healthier and happier at work.
